[Korea Social Welfare Journal] Reporter Lee Jeong-mok=Star chef Sam Kim revealed his heartbreaking family history while looking back on his long journey during the tvN 'You Quiz on the Block' broadcast. Appearing alongside figures from various fields, Sam Kim spoke candidly about his story from childhood to the present.
Sam Kim confessed that his dream of becoming a chef began in the kitchen of the boarding house his mother used to run. As an ordinary child, he began struggling to pursue his dream by working as the 'kitchen maknae' in Italy. Through the broadcast, he honestly shared those experiences, various behind-the-scenes stories during his path to success, and interesting episodes he experienced.
Sam Kim confessed that there were many sacrifices from his A Family in his journey to becoming a successful famous chef. He shared the story of how his mother became a credit delinquent due to student loans from a secondary financial sector during his studies in the United States, expressing gratitude by stating that he would not be who he is today without the support of his A Family. In particular, he looked back on a past where he suffered from guilt, mentioning that during his studies, he worked so intensely that he would fall asleep with a knife tied to his hand until he went to bed.
Despite the deep love of his A Family, there was also a difficult time when the whole A Family had to leave their home due to a sudden eviction notice. Additionally, thinking of his father, he expressed regret that he was only able to prepare the Pasta he made for his father, who was undergoing anticancer treatment, just once, and said he reflected on the meaning of cooking for a loved one.
Sam Kim's story deeply moved not only the broadcast participants but also the viewers. The broadcast took place at 8:45 PM that day.
