Soaring concert ticket prices: The different choices of AKMU and tripleS
As inflation continues, K-pop concert ticket prices are rising, leading artists like AKMU and tripleS to adopt different pricing and experience strategies.
As high inflation continues, K-pop concert ticket prices are also showing an upward trend.
Approximately 30,000 spectators visited the ‘Paradise of Rumors - AKMU Concert’ held for three days from the 9th to the 11th at the KSPO Dome in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
AKMU decorated the stage with large sand dunes and rocky mountain sets depicting a desert, along with the appearance of an old pickup truck.
Without separate guests or long speeches, they performed 30 songs continuously for 150 minutes, showcasing a wide range of music from their early debut atmosphere to the music of their new album ‘Blooming’.
They also paid attention to the audience experience before and after the performance. During the standing waiting time, they prepared a pre-busking performance, and the knuckle band goods, which serve as lightsticks, were provided for free. Stage staff also matched the concept by wearing hiking attire.
On the other hand, tripleS set the price for some seats for the Seoul performance of their world tour ‘ENDLESS’ at 30,000 won. The agency MODHAUS stated that while ticket price increases are inevitable due to high inflation, the decision was made to lower the barrier to watching performances and expand opportunities for cultural enjoyment.
MODHAUS is also preparing a method where the audience directly determines the price after watching the performance. Jeong Byeong-gi, CEO of MODHAUS, announced that a ‘voluntary pricing system’ will be introduced for the final session of the four Seoul solo concerts of ARTMS member Haseul, which will be held next month.
