Jeon Chae-eun has been cast as high school student Seong-gyeong, the lead character in “Scenes of Loss,” which began filming on Jeju Island on the 1st. According to media reports, the film’s team announced on the 15th that Jeon, Choi Ye-eun and Lee Tae-eun would appear in the production.

The film opens with Eun-chae returning to an area awaiting demolition in her hometown to search for a missing bracelet after learning of the sudden death of her younger sister, Chae-eun. There, she encounters Seong-gyeong, who spent Chae-eun’s final moments with her. The two come face to face with their own guilt and memories.

Jeon’s character struggles with confusion and loss in her friend’s absence, drifting while holding on to a final promise to Chae-eun. Choi plays Eun-chae, an older sister searching for her late sibling’s belongings as her daily life remains at a standstill after the death. Lee plays Chae-eun.

The film’s team said Choi would convey grief through restrained emotion, while Lee would bring a mysterious presence and emotional depth to her performance.

A launch poster released alongside the casting and filming announcement shows a figure lying with eyes closed on a sofa in a dim interior, with another silhouette faintly visible in the light. Gazes seemingly directed toward different places appear alongside soft light and cool shadows, with deep blue tones and a calligraphic title completing the design.

Jeon debuted in the 2020 film “Stone Skipping.” Her subsequent credits include the film “Shadow Child” and the dramas “The Devil Judge,” “Little Women,” “Uncle Samsik” and “Way Back Love.” “Unusual Family,” in which she starred, was invited to the 27th Jeonju International Film Festival.

“Scenes of Loss” is scheduled for release in 2027.
