On the album release day, they first revealed the stages for the new songs through comeback stages on Mnet and M2.
Questions and answers continuing through 'Unfinished' and 'Kick Off The Wall'
At the center of this album are the double title tracks 'Unfinished' and 'Kick Off The Wall', which are being presented for the first time since their debut. The two songs are connected in a structure of question and answer. 'Unfinished', in which KYEHOON participated in the production, contains the process of finding questions and answers posed to oneself, while 'Kick Off The Wall', in which KYEHOON and DONGHWA participated, contains the content of moving forward by directly confronting the answers found. American artist iann dior participated as a feature on 'Kick Off The Wall'.
KickFlip explained that the two songs flow together like a single story when listened to together. In comeback-related interviews, the members introduced 'Unfinished' as a song to listen to while focusing on emotions and vocals, and 'Kick Off The Wall' as being characterized by the team's energy and intense sound. They said, "We feel more attached to it because it is an album where we could think and grow a lot, both musically and as people." The song with the same title as the album contains the ambition to kick off the wall and move forward, and the two title tracks appeared on music show stages with different charms. The original text reported that the two songs formed an organic structure of question and answer and showcased different charms.
Members' names in the credits of all eight songs
'KICK OFF THE WALL Pt. 1' includes a total of 8 tracks, such as the two title tracks, '0 (Young)', 'Rockin’', 'hate blueberry', 'Drop In', and 'Let's Waste Our Youth Together'. The members participated in the production of all songs and are listed in the credits of each track. Among the title tracks, KYEHOON participated in 'Unfinished', and KYEHOON and DONGHWA participated in 'Kick Off The Wall'. The album is composed in a way that the members directly express the worries and challenges experienced in youth through music.
The members stated that while preparing the album, they discussed how to contain their current stories, and went through a process of adding opinions and revising the songs they each worked on. In an interview, KYEHOON said that in the lyrics of '0 (Young)', the phrase "When you and I attach to the 0 (Zero) where no one was, it becomes infinity" contains the meaning and will that they can achieve anything by being together as a team. Kim Donghyun explained that he wanted to convey the message of getting back up even if they fall in 'Rockin’'. The members stated that rather than following set answers, they also contained the process of directly confronting and finding their own answers in the album. In an interview with a media outlet, Minje was reported to have continuously thought about how to contain their current stories rather than just stopping at making good songs.
Activities ranging from music shows to radio and YouTube content
On the day of the album release, KickFlip appeared on the comeback stages of Mnet and M2 to showcase the stages for the new songs. Following this, they showed their vocals on KBS Kpop's 'Lee Mujin Service', and participated in 'Nae Geu Geu Geu Geu' with entertainer Yoo Byung-jae, and 'Practice Room Bada-ssaem' featuring choreographer Bada. They were with children in KBS's 'The Return of Superman's' 'Idols in Kindergarten', and also appeared in KBS Kpop's 'IDOL 1N2D'. Beyond music show stages, a schedule to promote the new album continued through radio and online variety content.
The members showed different sides in each content compared to the performances shown on stage. The original text reported that the members showed friendly and lovely charms in the broadcasts and online content. For the comeback stage, they presented the two title tracks 'Unfinished' and 'Kick Off The Wall', and these stages were introduced as a song singing about the imperfect present and a song containing the ambition to kick off the wall and move forward, respectively. In an interview, the members mentioned holding a fan concert in January this year and cited standing on stage while hearing the voices of fans in larger venues as a new goal. They also revealed plans to create KickFlip's own color musically in the future.
KickFlip is continuing their comeback activities through music shows and various contents after the release of the new album. The members sang about the worries and challenges of youth with music they made themselves, and the album led to their own first-week record and number one on two weekly charts.
