YouTuber Park Wi stepped down from his position as a Seoul City ambassador on the 27th. According to Seoul City, Park Wi conveyed his intention to resign from the ambassador position to the city this afternoon. It is understood that he decided to resign after much deliberation, feeling burdened as recent controversies surrounding him continued.

Park Wi was appointed as a Seoul City ambassador with a two-year term last June, and has been active in promoting barrier-free environments and youth/welfare policies. He is concluding his activities after 1 year and 2 months of appointment.

Previously, on the 22nd, Park Wi sparked controversy by releasing CCTV footage on his YouTube channel showing a wheelchair fall accident that occurred while disembarking a KTX, pointing out the response of the social service agent on site. Subsequently, public opinion worsened as circumstances showing he helped out of goodwill were revealed, while questions were raised regarding the process of obtaining the CCTV footage.

Due to the aftermath of the controversy, schedules for the Seoul Youth Policy Network special lecture and the Gangnam Cultural Foundation talk concert, which Park Wi was scheduled to attend, were successively canceled. On the 25th, a civil complaint was filed through e-People requesting a review of the requirements for dismissing an ambassador.

Seoul City plans to finalize the processing of Park Wi's resignation as an ambassador through internal approval procedures.
