Tablo of the group Epik High revealed his experience of almost debuting as an idol under JYP Entertainment. According to media reports, Tablo shared the story on the morning of the 13th by uploading a video titled 'The story of how Tablo almost debuted as a JYP idol' to his YouTube channel.

He said that while he was attending Stanford University and active as an underground hip-hop group, he received a call from an unknown number where the caller introduced themselves as JYP Entertainment. He recalled that after receiving a request to visit the office because they had heard his demo, he suspected it might be a hidden camera or a dangerous situation due to the shabby office and gloomy hallway in Cheongdam-dong at the time. He explained that he only realized the place was an audition after arriving at a location filled with cigarette smoke.

Tablo stated that he was not a formal rapper or producer but did music as a hobby. When the officials heard he was a student at Stanford University, they showed interest, and when asked to sing, he sang a song by Kim Jong-seo but stopped before the first chorus. He further replied that he could not dance when asked to show his dancing. After they spoke with the intent of asking if he came to rap, he performed freestyle rap, and he added that the reason the officials were surprised was likely because it was their first time encountering freestyle rap rather than his actual skill.

It was also explained that JYP Entertainment was preparing a boy group at the time. Tablo said he thought it might be a real offer since it was the company that created god, but he stated that he told them he was not someone suited to be an idol. The officials said they would contact him again as the group needed a rapper, and Tablo received a notice of passing after returning to school. However, he did not accept the offer because he had many studies and things to do.

Tablo speculated that the group being prepared at the time might have been Noel. Citing the reason that the boy group released immediately after was Noel, he mentioned that his friends said he could have been in that position as well. He said he thinks it is a relief that he rejected the offer, noting that since Noel was a vocal group, there would have been no place for a rapper to be active.
