The blind premiere and press conference for the film ‘Steely’, produced using 100% AI tools, will be held on September 7 at 2:00 PM at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall. Former AI Future Planning Senior Secretary Ha Jung Woo has confirmed his attendance, and they are scheduled to discuss the present and future of AI and the film industry.

‘Steely’ is a robot SF action film co-produced by Raon Company Plus and Aino Studio. Unlike existing methods that apply AI to only some scenes, it is characterized by utilizing AI throughout the entire production process, from planning to post-production. The production team stated that they focused on reducing the unnatural movements, facial expressions, and inconsistent textures of characters often seen in AI videos, and put significant effort into maintaining a consistent visual tone across scenes and characters. For the audio, they did not simply use AI voices but instead performed precise lip-syncing based on the performances of actual voice actors, and sound effects were completed through a separate sound mixing process.

The story centers on events that unfold when the autonomous decision-making robot ‘Aira’ perceives humans as a threat. The plot follows ‘Yoon Kang’, who sets out to find his missing father, as he faces a crisis surrounding the lethal virus ‘Code Zero’ alongside the AI ‘Ara’ he created and the combat suit ‘Steely’ left behind by his father. The paradoxical setting, where an AI created for humans instead attempts to eliminate humanity, provides a structure that heightens the tension of the film.

Director Seol Woo In, who took on the directing role, became known as an actor through the film ‘It's a Fairy Tale but Rated R’ and dramas such as ‘King the Land’, ‘Oasis’, and ‘Dr. Park’s Clinic’, and previously attempted AI-based directing through ‘Day One’ in the AI omnibus film ‘Code G: The Beginning of Attention’. This ‘Steely’ draws attention as his first feature-length work that integrates AI technology with cinematic directing as an extension of those efforts.

Attendees at the premiere and press conference will include Director Seol Woo In, Aino Studio CEO Ham Seul Gi, Raon Company Plus CEO Cho Heung Gyu, and former Senior Secretary Ha Jung Woo, though the attendee list may change depending on circumstances. As this is a venue where an individual involved in policy-making will directly share views at an AI film production site, attention is focused on what impact this will have on discussions regarding AI video production in Korea.
