HB Entertainment denies school violence allegations against actress Cha Ye-ryun
HB Entertainment has denied allegations of school violence involving actress Cha Ye-ryun, stating the claims are groundless following a post on the online community Nate Pann.
HB Entertainment denied school violence allegations against actress Cha Ye-ryun on the 30th, calling the claims made by an online writer "groundless." The writer, who alleged continuous physical assault at Junggye Middle School, claimed to be undergoing psychiatric treatment and threatened to submit additional testimonies from former classmates.
HB Entertainment, the agency representing actress Cha Ye-ryun, stated on the 30th that after verification, the school violence allegations raised online are "groundless." Previously, on the 29th, a writer identified as "A" on the online community Nate Pann posted that they were subjected to continuous physical assault and bullying during their school years by an actress born in 1985 who attended Junggye Middle School in Nowon-gu, Seoul. While writer A posted photos from a graduation album, the real name of the accused actress was not mentioned; however, some netizens identified Cha Ye-ryun based on the birth year, school, and initials provided.
Writer A claimed to have been bullied in classrooms, bathrooms, and buildings near the school, and alleged that their eardrum was damaged after being slapped. Stating that they are currently undergoing psychiatric treatment and taking medication, the writer demanded that the actress stop her broadcasting and YouTube activities and issue an apology. The writer also stated that if the allegations are denied, additional testimonies from former classmates would be submitted.
Following the agency's statement, online reactions have been mixed, with some comments supporting the allegations and others noting they had not personally witnessed any assault. A past post, reportedly written in 2024, has also been reshared. However, the identities of the original poster and commenters, as well as objective evidence to prove the alleged victimization, have not been confirmed.
Cha Ye-ryun married actor Joo Sang-wook in 2017 and has one daughter, having shared daily life with her family through broadcasts and online content. Attention is now focused on whether Cha Ye-ryun's side will provide further explanation or if writer A will release follow-up materials.
