Dong-A Pharmaceutical announced on the 8th that the ‘44th Marronnier Women's Writing Contest’ held at Marronnier Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 7th has concluded.

Marking its 44th year, this event is a women's writing contest that has continued since 1983, and any woman can participate for free. Participants chose one category among poetry, prose, or children's literature and wrote works based on themes presented on-site. This year's themes were puberty, puppy, trace, and walk.

In this writing contest, a total of 29 people were awarded, including 3 grand prize winners, 3 excellence award winners, 9 encouragement award winners, and 14 honorable mention winners. The grand prize winners for each category were Baek Ji-an for poetry, Im Eun-ha for prose, and Jang Tae-hee for children's literature. The winning works will be published as a collection and will be released through the Literature Square website and Brunch Story.

It is also notable that the literary event is establishing itself as a venue for sharing creative experiences beyond a simple competition. As an event aiming to discover female literati and expand the base of women's literature, it is expected to play a role in lowering the barriers to entry for literature if on-site participatory programs continue steadily.

A literary lecture by author Kim Mella was also held on-site. Following this, an autumn music concert was held at the Marronnier Park outdoor performance stage. At the awards ceremony, Kim Min-young, president of Dong-A Pharmaceutical, said, “I am pleased that we can continuously discover talented female literati and contribute to expanding the base of women's literature through the Marronnier Women's Writing Contest.”
