Go Youngwook joins the controversy over Sim Soo-bong's criticism of Kim Da-hyun by mentioning Roo'ra stage

While controversy has arisen due to singer Sim Soo-bong (71) publicly criticizing Kim Da-hyun's (17) performance, Go Youngwook (50), a former member of the group Roo'ra, revealed his position by mentioning his past activity video. On August 22, Go Youngwook posted a video of Roo'ra's event stage held on August 12 on his SNS, leaving a message saying, “I wonder what Senior Sim Soo-bong would have said if she had come up on stage right after Roo'ra's performance recently.”

The video features Lee Sang-min, Chae Ri-na, and Kim Ji-hyun performing Roo'ra's representative songs, including ‘APT.’, ‘3! 4!’, ‘Angel Without Wings’, ‘Ki-do’, and ‘Lover’. Some are interpreting that Go Youngwook was indirectly expressing his own situation of being excluded from current Roo'ra activities, or that he was indirectly targeting Sim Soo-bong's criticism of Kim Da-hyun.

Previously, at the ‘Jinan Plateau Trot Festival’ held in Jinan County, Jeonbuk on August 20, Sim Soo-bong publicly criticized Kim Da-hyun's stage, saying, “The woman who sang in front of there,” and “She made my head dizzy.” Sim Soo-bong expressed her discomfort, saying, “It seems like a young lady who doesn't know what singing is or what life is,” and “Please do not send a novice in front of me.”

As the controversy spread, Sim Soo-bong explained through an official statement on August 22, “I did not know exactly who the singer in the previous turn was, and I had no intention of shaming a specific person,” and conveyed her apologies to Kim Da-hyun and her family. Kim Da-hyun also settled the conflict by stating through SNS on the same day, “I spoke directly with Teacher Sim Soo-bong and received an apology, warm comfort, and encouragement.”
