TWICE's JIHYO announced on October 21 the establishment of her new agency, EMITHAUS, marking the end of a 21-year journey with JYP Entertainment. While she will manage her solo career through the new company, she plans to continue her activities as a member of TWICE.

TWICE's JIHYO has concluded her 21-year journey with JYP Entertainment and established a new agency, EMITHAUS. On October 21, JIHYO posted a handwritten letter on social media, stating, “I have come to end my journey with JYP, which I have been with for 21 years since my childhood.” She noted that while she will continue her solo activities through the new company, she will also continue her activities as a member of TWICE. Using her solo career as a starting point, EMITHAUS plans to discover and recruit various artists and expand its business scope into music and general content.

Ending a 21-year journey with JYP Entertainment

In her handwritten letter, JIHYO reflected on spending most of her life at JYP Entertainment, from her childhood through adolescence to adulthood. She noted that it is not easy to summarize such a long time in a few sentences, adding that while there were both good and bad days, that time shaped who she is today. She expressed her gratitude to the staff at JYP Entertainment for helping her grow and for staying by her side for so long, adding that she will remember the time and feelings shared for a long time.

JIHYO explained that her independence is not a conclusion to her past, but rather a choice regarding how she will live her future. “To me, independence is closer to a choice of how I will live my future time, rather than a conclusion regarding the time that has passed,” she stated. She then announced, “As a start, I have established a new company, EMITHAUS.” As she continues her work in a new way outside of her familiar environment, she said she would approach her future choices and activities with a cautious and responsible attitude.

EMITHAUS established with solo activities as a starting point

EMITHAUS aims to expand an artist's individuality and creative capabilities through music and various types of content. The company name was inspired by "EMIT," meaning to radiate. In her letter, JIHYO expressed her desire to freely unfold even the possibilities she has not yet discovered. The company's activities will begin with JIHYO's solo career. Following this, the company plans to discover and recruit various artists to expand its business into music and general content.

JIHYO announced that she will continue her solo activities alongside the establishment of the new company. However, she did not disclose specific schedules for solo album or content releases, nor the timing of additional artist recruitment for the company. The company's goal and future business direction are presented as expanding the individuality and creative capabilities of artists into music and various contents. Regarding the meaning of "EMIT," which forms the basis of the name, JIHYO expressed plans to continue various challenges in the new environment to expand her own possibilities.

TWICE activities to continue

JIHYO made it clear that her independence does not mean a separation from TWICE. She wrote that TWICE is an indispensable and precious part of her life, and expressed anticipation for the time she will spend with the members following the time they have already shared. She also expressed her desire to stand on the same stage as the members and continue the time they create together. This explains that she will carry out her solo activities at the new company and her activities as a member of TWICE simultaneously.

TWICE debuted in 2015. According to reference materials, JIHYO spent approximately 10 years as a trainee at JYP Entertainment before her debut, and in 2022, all members renewed their contracts with JYP Entertainment. At that time, JIHYO mentioned on a fan communication platform that she was contemplating her choices. In this handwritten letter, JIHYO officially announced the end of her journey with JYP Entertainment, the establishment of EMITHAUS, and the policy to continue TWICE activities.

Expressing gratitude to fans and promising responsible activities

JIHYO also left a message of thanks to the fandom ONCE, who have believed in and watched over her for the past 11 years. She stated that she knows it is not a given for someone to watch over a person's changes and growth for such a long time, and that their unchanging belief and support gave her courage. She said she would continue to fill her time with choices and efforts true to herself and grow into an artist worthy of the love and support fans have sent. The letter concluded with expressions of gratitude.

As she continues her work in a new environment, JIHYO stated she would approach all choices and activities with caution and responsibility. Starting with JIHYO's solo activities, EMITHAUS plans to discover and recruit various artists and expand its business into the music and content fields. JIHYO also said she would continue activities such as standing on stage with the members of TWICE. The details released with the letter did not include specific schedules for the new company or future recruitment targets.
