SEVENTEEN JUN Releases First Chinese EP ‘9’… Self-Exploration Contained in 7 Songs

SEVENTEEN's JUN's first Chinese EP ‘9’ was released on various music platforms at 11 AM on the 28th. According to media reports, the album contains the process of fully completing oneself through unfamiliar emotions and various trials. Through seven tracks, it conveys the message of 'finding, looking at, and expressing myself.'

The included songs are the title track ‘9’, along with ‘360’, ‘I See You’, ‘寻途 (Inward)’, the interlude ‘月背 / YueBei’, ‘Dexire’, and ‘4give’. JUN participated in writing the lyrics for all songs except for the interlude, embedding his own story into the tracks. The title track ‘9’ is a pop song centered on downbeat and bass performance with an addictive melody. The lyrics express the moment of facing one's true heart without hesitation after passing through ups and downs and trials.

Before the album release, JUN stated through his agency PLEDIS Entertainment, “I am very excited because this is an album I made with all my heart,” and “I have been waiting for this album to be released to the world so that I can communicate with you through music.” He continued, “The message of ‘finding, looking at, and expressing myself’ runs through the seven tracks,” and “As each song has a different charm and style, I hope you enjoy the music to your heart's content.”

Introducing the album as a single adventure, JUN stated, “I hope you accept ‘9’ as an adventure that we walk together,” and “Through this adventure, I want to convey the belief that ‘if we do not give up on our dreams and do not lose courage, our courage will surely receive a response.’”

The music video for the title track took its motif from the Chinese folk legend ‘九命猫妖’. It captures the story of the song in video format by depicting JUN running through the cycle of time repeatedly to fulfill his last wish in a time-loop format. Actress Isabella Leong, who worked with JUN in the movie ‘重生2’, also appears. The video ends with an open ending accompanied by the sound of a cat meowing. ‘重生2’, starring JUN, is scheduled to be released in mainland China on October 3.
