Actress Shin Ye-eun has expanded the scope of her overseas child sponsorship activities, which she has been continuing for seven years, to include refugee children from Myanmar. According to the international relief and development NGO Korea Food for the Hungry International, Shin Ye-eun, who is serving as an ambassador, visited the Mae Sot region in Thailand from September 11 to 16 and spent time interacting with Myanmar refugee children.

This visit was recorded as Shin Ye-eun's first overseas field activity with Korea Food for the Hungry International. Mae Sot, which shares a border with Myanmar, is an area where many refugees and migrants fleeing unstable situations reside. Shin Ye-eun visited local refugee schools and churches to personally inspect the children's educational and living environments, and participated in various experiential programs such as meal service, theater performances, and origami.

Starting with a sponsorship for a child in Vietnam in 2019, Shin Ye-eun has steadily sponsored children in various countries, including Ecuador, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Following this field visit, she formed a new sponsorship with Myanmar refugee children and promised continuous support.

After returning from the field, Shin Ye-eun shared her thoughts, saying, "Seeing the children directly living and studying allowed me to feel more specifically what the needs are on the ground. I will continue to take an interest and be with them so that the children can learn and pursue their dreams in a safe environment." Korea Food for the Hungry International plans to launch an overseas child sponsorship fundraising campaign with Shin Ye-eun to help refugee children in the Mae Sot region.

The Korea Social Welfare Journal is striving to deliver press releases and welfare information more easily and accurately with the help of AI technology.
