BTS's V Greets Chile as "Mejor Pais de Chile" and a White Stage Look Revives His "CGV" Nickname
A fan cam of BTS member V in an all-white outfit at the Santiago, Chile, show of the ARIRANG world tour went viral on X, reviving his "CGV" nickname. BTS continue the South American leg in La Plata, Argentina, on the 23rd and 24th.
At BTS's Santiago, Chile, show, V greeted the crowd in Spanish with "Chile, mejor pais de Chile," drawing laughs. A fan cam of his all-white stage look has since gone viral, and he was once named No. 1 on TC Candler's "The 100 Most Handsome Faces in the World."
White fur, a corset-style top and silver chains
The fan cam was posted on X on the 19th, filmed during the ARIRANG world tour show in Santiago. X introduced it by saying fans had fallen for "Taehyung's dreamy white outfit." In the video, V wears a voluminous fur jacket, a corset-style top laced with cords and ruffle-trimmed trousers, with a silver chain hanging at his waist. The look was built around white but mixed fur, cords, ruffles and chain.
A long note in "FAKE LOVE," and a fashion-show comparison
Attention was not limited to the clothes. Singing "FAKE LOVE" in the white outfit, V delivered a powerful long note. The original report said he handled it flawlessly and showed intense charisma. It also described him under the stage lights as if on a fashion-show runway, like a pictorial. The reaction to the outfit brought back his long-standing nickname "CGV," short for "Computer Generated Visual," used to mean someone so handsome as to seem unreal, as if made with computer graphics.
From "CGV" to "vampire": how fans reacted
Fans gave V the nickname "(V)ampire," a play on the letter V, and called him a "dream boy." "CGV" was mentioned again. One fan wrote, "The next generation won't believe this wasn't AI." Another mentioned his real name, Kim Tae-hyung: "A real angel was spotted on Earth today, and it turned out to be Taehyung."
A Korean fan who quoted that post wrote, "Is this where I'm going to lie down today? God really sent Taehyung down for the women of Earth." Another fan posted stage photos with "Look at this photo," and one post said, "I resent life for not letting me have him." These posts were shared as fan reactions to V's stage photos and the fan cam.
From Lima's "chullo" to a three-night Chile run
V had also drawn attention earlier on the tour, at the show in Lima, Peru. There he took the stage with the other members in a "chullo," an alpaca-wool hat. The Spanish phrase "mucho picante" ("very spicy"), which he mentioned a few years ago and which circulates as a meme, was greeted with cheers from the audience. The original report said the phrase came up again at the Lima show.
After three nights of concerts in Chile, BTS are due to continue the South American tour in La Plata, Argentina, on the 23rd and 24th.
"Visual king" since early on
In 2017, V ranked first on "The 100 Most Handsome Faces in the World," selected by TC Candler, which the source describes as a US film review site. The original report said that, among other things, this is why he has long been called the "ultimate visual." In the Santiago fan cam, the fur jacket, corset-style top, ruffled trousers and silver chain were captured together with the "FAKE LOVE" performance. After the video was introduced on X, some reactions likened his looks to AI or computer graphics.
