Drama 'Descendants of the Sun' to be Remade as Indonesian Film... Releasing Next Year

The drama 'Descendants of the Sun', which caused a Syndrome across Asia by recording a peak viewership rating of 38.8% in 2016, will be reborn as a theatrical film in Indonesia. The production company Next Entertainment World will directly participate in the planning and production process of this project to present high-quality content that combines the original narrative with local sentiments and backgrounds.

This film is directed by Hanung Bramantyo, who has won Best Director awards at the Indonesian Film Festival twice. For the lead roles, Indonesia's national actor Reza Rahadian and Dian Sastrowardoyo, who gained recognition through the Netflix series 'Cigarette Girl', will join to showcase their acting chemistry. On October 5th, the full-scale start of the project was announced through the local cultural festival 'IdeaFest'.

'Descendants of the Sun Indonesia' (working title), which has completed filming and is currently undergoing post-production, is scheduled for a local release in 2025. Domestic distribution and sales in Korea will be handled by Content Panda, an affiliate of Next Entertainment World, with plans to introduce the work to Korean audiences as well.
