EBS Video Tutoring Expands Nationwide for 2nd Semester... Priority Mentees Increase by 37%
EBS has completed recruitment for its 2026 2nd semester Video Tutoring program, which has expanded to all 16 metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide. The program has refined its selection criteria for students in underserved areas and seen a significant increase in mentees matched with university student mentors.
Recruitment for mentors and mentees for the 2026 academic year 2nd semester of 'EBS Video Tutoring', a non-face-to-face learning support project jointly operated by EBS, the Ministry of Education, and metropolitan/provincial offices of education, has been completed. With the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education newly joining this semester, the project has expanded to include all 16 metropolitan and provincial offices nationwide, and the scale of mentees matched with university student mentors has increased by 56% compared to the 1st semester.
Refinement of Selection Criteria for Geographically Underserved Targets
As the participating regions have expanded nationwide, the selection criteria to support students lacking educational infrastructure have also become more sophisticated. The criteria for geographically underserved targets, which previously operated as 'residents of Eup, Myeon, or Ri', have been subdivided and applied starting from the 2nd semester into residents of Eup or Myeon, population-declining areas, and population-decline-interest areas. Through this, socially and geographically underserved targets are classified as priority selection targets when allocating quotas to minimize learning gaps.
In fact, the number of priority-selected mentees in the 2nd semester increased by 37% compared to the 1st semester. The detailed composition of priority-selected targets showed that geographically underserved targets were the most numerous at 650 people (81%), socially underserved targets were 93 people (12%), and students meeting both conditions were 58 people (7%).
Strengthening Mentor Competency and Improving Class Quality
To help new mentors adapt quickly, EBS operates 'Friends Sessions' along with the mentor supporters group, 'Tutoring Friends'. The session, held online at 3 PM on August 25, was planned directly by the 2nd generation of Tutoring Friends, and focused on improving the quality of education by resolving questions from actual classroom settings and sharing excellent teaching cases.
The 2026 academic year 2nd semester Video Tutoring will operate from August to December. Detailed information can be found on the EBS Video Tutoring website.
