Jang Hyuk to play Yeon Gaesomun in KBS2 epic drama ‘Great King Munmu’

The production team of the new KBS2 epic drama ‘Great King Munmu’ released character stills of Yeon Gaesomun, played by Jang Hyuk, on the 29th. In the work, Jang Hyuk takes on the role of the Goguryeo war hero Yeon Gaesomun.

Yeon Gaesomun is a figure from a family that has held military power for three generations, growing his influence by achieving victories in war. He ruthlessly confronts the attempts of nobles to remove him to seize power in Goguryeo, and his subsequent movements toward Silla influence the landscape surrounding the Unification of the Three Kingdoms.

‘Great King Munmu’ depicts the stories of leaders against the backdrop of 600 years of continuous warfare and upheavals within the Three Kingdoms. Kim Ri-heon and Hong Jin-i are in charge of the screenplay, and Kim Young-jo and Koo Sung-jun are directing. It consists of 28 episodes in total and is scheduled to premiere in November.
