JooYi Makes Stage Debut with Musical 'Coffee In'... Expanding Acting Career
Former Momoland member JooYi has made her musical debut playing the lead role of Se-jin in the creative musical 'Coffee In'.
JooYi, formerly of the group Momoland, has taken her first steps as a musical actress. JooYi met with audiences during the first performance of the creative musical 'Coffee In', currently playing at The Good Theater in Seoul, where she plays the lead role of Se-jin. 'Coffee In' will run at The Good Theater from August 20, 2026, to October 25, 2026.
'Coffee In' is a two-person play set in the cafe 'Love is...', where coffee and wine coexist, depicting the relationship between Se-jin, a barista during the morning hours, and Jimin, a sommelier during the evening hours. The two engage in a psychological battle through the cafe without meeting directly, until the story reaches a turning point when Jimin appears before Se-jin under the name 'Jung-min'.
Se-jin is characterized as a bright and confident individual who comes to work every morning to write the phrase 'Love is...' and thoughts about love on a chalkboard. JooYi expressed this character's personality through her facial expressions and tone of voice, and within the two-person play structure led by the two actors, she performed various numbers with a clear vocal tone.
Among those who watched the first performance, reactions included, "Even though it is her debut work, her tone and expressions were good," and "She is cute, and I look forward to her future growth." Through her agency, JooYi expressed her gratitude to the staff and fellow actors, saying, "I am so happy to have successfully completed the first performance as Se-jin," and added, "It doesn't feel real yet, but I want to become a more growing JooYi during the remaining performances."
JooYi debuted in 2016 as a member of the group Momoland, making a name for herself with hit songs such as 'Bboom Bboom' and 'BAAM', and has now expanded her field of activity as a musical actress through this work.
