Actress Lee Se-young is receiving critical acclaim for her role as Rashta, a former runaway slave, in the Disney+ original series 'The Remarried Empress' (written by Yeo Ji-na and directed by Jo Soo-won), which premiered on the 3rd. Rashta is a villainous character who catches the eye of Sovieshu (played by Ju Ji-hoon), the Emperor of the Eastern Empire, and enters the imperial palace, only to behave impudently in front of Empress Navier (played by Shin Min-a) and lie that she is a friend exchanging secret letters with Heinrey (played by Lee Jong-suk), a prince of the Western Kingdom.
Lee Se-young has provided a multi-dimensional portrayal of a "pure evil" character, acting fragile in front of Sovieshu while displaying innocence in front of Navier to mask her malice. Her visuals, which show a high degree of synchronization with the character from the webtoon, are also a topic of conversation.
Upon its release, 'The Remarried Empress' rose to number one on the 'Today's Top 10 in Korea' list within the Disney+ app. On the global OTT ranking site FlixPatrol, it recorded number one in 12 countries in the Disney+ TV show category and ranked 7th overall. A total of 10 episodes will be released, with two episodes available every Wednesday.
