Wizonsen, a specialized producer and distributor of performance content, has completed the limited 6-session screening of ‘The Misanthrope’, the first work of the NT Live 2026/27 season introduced to Korea, at five screening locations nationwide. The average seat occupancy was 45%, and total revenue was recorded at approximately 28.55 million won. The next work, ‘Inter Alia’, will have an exclusive release at Megabox on October 7.

NT Live is a performance video program that brings the stages of the National Theatre in the UK to cinema screens. Given that it allows audiences to experience works that are difficult to see in person, the role of live performance content is being reaffirmed. However, for domestic screenings to move beyond one-off events, continuity in work selection and programming appears to be important.

‘The Misanthrope’, which opened on September 23, is a work in which Martin Crimp provides a modern reinterpretation of Molière's play. The original male protagonist, Alceste, was changed to a modern female novelist, ‘Alice’, a role played by Sandra Oh, marking her debut on the British National Theatre stage. Through a character clashing between their own beliefs and social relationships, the work provides a modern interpretation of the meaning of truth and conviction.

The following work, ‘Inter Alia’, stars Rosamund Pike and centers on Jessica Parks, a judge at the London Criminal Court and a mother, dealing with the conflict between law and justice, and family and motherhood. Suzie Miller and Justin Martin collaborated again, and after its premiere at the National Theatre Lyttelton Theatre in 2025, it moved to the West End in 2026. Rosamund Pike won the Best Actress award at the 2026 Olivier Awards.

Starting with ‘The Misanthrope’ and ‘Inter Alia’, Wizonsen plans to sequentially present a total of 8 works in the NT Live 2026/27 season, including ‘Mrs Warren's Profession’, ‘Golden Boy’, ‘All My Sons’, ‘The Fifth Step’, ‘The Playboy of the Western World’, and ‘Frankenstein’. ‘Inter Alia’ will be screened for two weeks from October 7 to 18, meeting audiences every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
