Seoul Donhwamun Traditional Theater will hold ‘漁翁野談’, a performance that weaves together humanities and traditional arts, on October 19, 2026. Fisherman Ki Tae-wan will explore ancient literature and records to unravel history, culture, and people's lives through the theme of fish stories that have continued for 2,500 years in East Asia.

Based on the names of fish and related stories recorded in ancient documents, the performance examines how fish have been handled in history, literature, food, and art. The composition, which expands the subject of fish into various cultural domains, is a way of connecting humanities stories with traditional arts performances.

Along with the stories, Cha Myeong-hee's Gyobang Gutgeori dance and Kim Mi-young's Taepyeongmu will take the stage. Lee Hae-kyung and Kim Gil-hyo will share stories on the theme of fish and traditional culture through ‘Conversation on Traditional Arts’. Planning and directing are handled by Jin Ok-seop.

Seoul Donhwamun Traditional Theater has composed this performance as a program featuring talk, dance, and music together. The performance is expected to be a place that goes beyond merely appreciating traditional arts to collectively examine stories about history, literature, and nature through a single medium.
