According to media reports, director Christopher Nolan's film ‘The Odyssey’ has achieved a cumulative global box office revenue of $1.685 billion, ascending to the position of the highest-grossing film in the history of Universal Pictures. This figure surpasses the previous record of $1.677 billion held by the 2015 film ‘Jurassic World’. Notably, it set a first in film history by recording over $500 million in revenue from IMAX screenings alone.
The box office momentum in South Korea is also unrivaled. Since its release on August 5, it has held the number one spot at the box office for 41 consecutive days, breaking the record for the longest period at number one among films released since 2010. As of September 14, the cumulative number of viewers was tallied at 10,834,337, surpassing ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ to rank 6th in the all-time foreign film box office rankings. As it currently maintains the number one spot in real-time reservation rates, expectations for the final results are rising.
