The Busan Film Commission held the '2026 BFC Story IP Competition' awards ceremony on the 12th at the '2026 ACFM' joint booth held at BEXCO Exhibition Center 2 in Busan. This year, 110 entries were submitted to the competition, and 11 winners were selected from the 28 entries that passed the preliminary round by five external judges.

The Grand Prize was awarded to the feature film 'Fake Family' by Choi Beom-seok of Waegari Film. The drama/series 'Rumors—Secretly Like the Wind', which depicts the journey of a Joseon prince and a young female assassin, and the crime entertainment film 'Haeundae Pirates', which follows a search for an underwater safe, were selected for the Excellence Award.

The Encouragement Awards went to seven works, including 'Unsellable', 'The Awakened: Video Boy', 'Fire Your Boss', 'The Ghost', 'Round', 'Stop the Movie!', and 'Twenty Thousand Steps to Earth'. The Busan Bank Special Award, newly established this year, was received by Jung Yu-mi's animation story 'MUSHROOM'. The work, which expresses the self and desires of characters through mushrooms, was evaluated for its potential to expand into webtoons, theatrical films, and OTT platforms.

The provision of separate awards for the webtoon and animation sectors is interpreted as an attempt to broaden the formats of the story IP covered by the competition. Now in its fifth year, the competition discovers story IP from creators and businesses in the Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang Province regions and supports industrial connections.

Winning creators will enter into a business support implementation agreement with the Busan Film Commission and receive follow-up support, such as participating in the 2027 BFC Story IP promotion event. On November 4, a creator capacity-building workshop will be held for the winners and local creators.
