The exhibition 'Flowers Blooming from the Coast' by artist Cho Eun-mi, supported by the Gangwon Cultural Foundation, will be held at the Yanggu Willow Art Warehouse from September 15 to 30. This exhibition consists of ceramic works that unfold the lives of elderly female residents of Haean-myeon, Yanggu, and the memories of the region through the theme of wildflowers. Using local soil and discarded materials, Cho worked together with the residents to capture the results of a three-year research process. This attempt to sublimate the narratives of local residents into artistic records is being evaluated as an exemplary case of creative support utilizing the province's cultural resources.

Shin Hyun-sang, CEO of the Gangwon Cultural Foundation, stated, "It is deeply meaningful in that the lives and memories of local residents remain in a new form through art," and added, "We will continue to spare no support so that the regional characteristics of Gangwon can lead to art." The exhibition opening ceremony will take place on September 15 at 2 PM, and anyone can participate without a separate prior application.

Meanwhile, the Gangwon Film Commission is operating the 'Visiting Cinema' project, which directly visits culturally underserved areas and classes within the province. Since last May, it has toured senior centers and welfare facilities in remote mountain villages, providing movie viewing opportunities to approximately 400 residents. An official from the Film Commission said, "We are seeing high satisfaction by screening movies on-site for elderly residents in areas with low accessibility to cinemas." Institutions wishing to request screenings in November and December can apply through the Gangwon Film Commission website starting in early October.
