High diver Choi Byeong-hwa to tackle 12-story cliff at Gyeongnyeolbiyeoldo in 'Point of Omniscient Obsession' premiere
South Korea's only high diver, Choi Byeong-hwa, will attempt a dive from a cliff roughly 12 stories high at Gyeongnyeolbiyeoldo in the upcoming premiere of the MBC variety show 'Point of Omniscient Obsession'.
The footage of Choi Byeong-hwa, South Korea's only high diver, jumping from a cliff at Gyeongnyeolbiyeoldo off the coast of Taean, South Chungcheong Province, will be revealed in the premiere of the new MBC variety show 'Point of Omniscient Obsession' (hereafter 'Point of Omniscient Obsession'), which airs at 6:05 PM on the 8th.
Choi Byeong-hwa's current destination, Gyeongnyeolbiyeoldo, is an uninhabited island located near the westernmost point of South Korea, reachable by a boat trip of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes from the mainland. The cliff height reaches approximately the 12th floor of an apartment building. Observing the scene, Jun Hyun-moo expressed admiration, stating, "It's like a mountain movie. But in movies, it's CG, while this is real."
Having challenged high diving in a domestic environment lacking even professional training facilities, Choi Byeong-hwa became the first Korean to compete on the world championship stage. As South Korea's sole high diver, Choi is traveling to natural cliffs across the country to continue meaningful challenges by moving beyond designated diving platforms.
'Point of Omniscient Obsession' is a spin-off of 'Omniscient Interfering View' and is an observational variety show that looks into the daily lives of "eccentrics" who have built their own worlds through extraordinary obsession and passion. The program is planned by Noh Si-yong, directed by Jeon Jae-uk, Jeong Dong-sik, and Kim Ik-hwan, and written by Yeo Hyeon-jeon.
