The new KBS 2TV epic drama 'Sword & Silence' is set to premiere on the 14th at 9:20 PM. The work tells the story of leaders who stake everything on a single victory amidst 600 years of continuous warfare and internal upheavals within the Three Kingdoms. The series is written by Kim Ri-heon and Hong Jin-i, directed by Kim Young-jo and Koo Sung-joon, with Lee Ho serving as the executive producer.
The Silla camp is led by Lee Hyun-wook as Kim Beop-min, Kim Kang-woo as Kim Chun-chu, and Park Seong-ung as Kim Yu-sin. They face off against Jang Hyuk as Yeon Gaesomun of Goguryeo, Ko Young-bin as King Uija of Baekje, and Yang Hyun-min as Li Shimin, the Emperor of the Tang dynasty.
In the drama, Yeon Gaesomun does not easily accept the proposal from Kim Chun-chu to seek peace, due to the memory of losing the Han River basin following the betrayal of King Jinheung. King Uija attacks Daeyaseong Fortress out of a desire for revenge for the death of King Seong at the Battle of Gwansanseong, an event that leads to Kim Beop-min and Kim Chun-chu losing their families. Subsequently, Silla engages in the Battle of Hwangsanbeol led by Kim Yu-sin.
Meanwhile, while Silla joins hands with Li Shimin, who dreams of conquering Goguryeo, the alliance turns into war as the Tang dynasty's ambitions to target the entire Korean Peninsula emerge following the fall of Baekje and Goguryeo. Kim Beop-min takes command of the Silla army and launches a preemptive strike against the Tang dynasty.
