Why K-pop boy group Cortis is challenging BTS's records with 'REDRED'
K-pop boy group Cortis has achieved remarkable success with their title track 'REDRED'…
[Korea Social Welfare Journal] Reporter Kang Hyun-gu= The group Cortis has recently achieved remarkable achievements on the music charts. Their 2nd mini album title track 'REDRED' rose to 3rd place on the Melon monthly chart last August, maintaining a top position for a whopping four consecutive months. This is the first time for a K-pop boy group since BTS.
'REDRED' recorded 3rd place upon its initial entry, rose to 2nd place in June, and subsequently proved its popularity by steadily maintaining its position within the top 3. Since the Melon chart reflects pure service usage excluding duplicate users, it clearly demonstrates how much mainstream popularity Cortis is enjoying.
In particular, 'REDRED' is one of the highest-ranking K-pop boy group songs in recent years, staying within the top 3 for the longest period since BTS's 'Dynamite'. Looking at the trends of the last 10 years, BTS and Cortis are the only ones to have maintained a top position for such a long period with a single song.
Released last April, this song captured the hearts of many listeners with its unique sound, charming lyrics, and intense performance. Additionally, Cortis is called by the nickname 'Young Creator Crew' and has built a challenging image for the younger generation by directly participating in music, choreography, and video production.
This popularity is confirmed beyond the domestic market on global music platforms as well. 'REDRED' is expanding its influence by taking 1st place for 18 consecutive weeks on Spotify's 'Weekly Top Songs Korea' chart.
Cortis is also planning concerts in Japan in the future. They are scheduled to hold the '2026 CORTIS TOUR IN JAPAN' at Pia Arena MM in Kanagawa, Japan, from the 4th to the 6th. Furthermore, to celebrate their 1st anniversary, they are continuing active promotions by releasing the expanded version of their 2nd mini album, which includes the new songs 'PACK IT UP' and 'MONEYMONEYMONEY'.
