The SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Doctor X: Era of the White Mafia' reached a peak viewership rating of 16.7% for its eighth episode, maintaining its position as the number one program in its time slot for four weeks in a row.
The eighth episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Doctor X: Era of the White Mafia,' which aired on the 31st, recorded a peak viewership rating of 16.7%, with 15.6% nationwide and 15.1% in the Seoul metropolitan area. This marks the fourth consecutive week of ranking first in its time slot and being the top-rated Saturday mini-series. The 2049 viewership ratings reached a peak of 6.09% and an average of 5.4%, ranking first in its time slot, among weekly mini-series, and across all Saturday programming.
The episode featured Yoo Ga-eul (played by Ki So-yu), a 10-year-old pediatric cancer patient who showed no improvement despite undergoing eight rounds of chemotherapy. Meanwhile, Gye Su-jeong declared a solo surgery without assistance based on her contract terms. Hospital Director Boo Seung-gwon (played by Son Hyun-joo) stated that he would expand the contract conditions if a surgery that typically takes over 10 hours could be successfully completed within six hours.
On the day of the surgery, Professor Hwang (played by Kang Hak-su) from the neurosurgery department collapsed during a procedure, prompting Gye Su-jeong to be deployed for an emergency surgery just one hour before Yoo Ga-eul's scheduled 12:00 surgery. Following this, Gye Su-jeong proceeded with the surgery at maximum speed, stating, "I won't let them be in pain for even a single minute longer."
The episode concluded with Jang Hee-sook appearing visibly shaken after Boo Seung-gwon asked, "Is Gye Su-jeong Doctor X?" The drama airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM.
