Third Life Sharing Together Concert of the Year Held at Seoul Metropolitan Government Boramae Medical Center
The Korea Organ Donation Agency held the third "Life Sharing Together Concert" of the year at Seoul Metropolitan Government Boramae Medical Center to promote the meaning of organ and human tissue donation. The event featured performances by the Voice of Life Choir and a piano trio, alongside testimonies from donor families and transplant recipients.
The Korea Organ Donation Agency announced that it held the ‘Life Sharing Together Concert’ at the 1st-floor atrium of Seoul Metropolitan Government Boramae Medical Center on the 29th of last month. This event was organized to promote the meaning of organ and human tissue donation and to broaden consensus on life sharing through performances. This marks the third time it has been held this year, following events on the 9th of last month at Geumcheon-gu Office, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and on the 11th at Ilsandong-gu Public Health Center, Goyang Special City.
The event consisted of a performance by the Voice of Life Choir and a piano trio, as well as stories from donor families and transplant recipients. The choir, composed of donor families, transplant recipients, and those registered as potential donors, performed songs such as ‘Giving Love, Receiving Gratitude’ and ‘Never Ending Story’. The following piano trio expressed the meaning of life sharing through lyrical melodies.
In the eyes of this reporter, this event goes beyond a simple performance and serves as a place to share the experiences and emotions surrounding donation. Given that the message, which is difficult to reach through institutional explanations alone, was delivered through music and testimony, it seems likely that a similar format will continue in future events aimed at spreading awareness of life sharing.
In the final segment, Lee So-hyun, the mother of donor Lee Hak-jun, and transplant recipient Kang Ok-ye took the stage to share the process of deciding on the donation and life after the transplant, respectively. Song Kyung-jun, director of Seoul Metropolitan Government Boramae Medical Center, said, “I express my deepest respect and gratitude to the donors and their families who have shared the most precious life.” He added, “I hope that the beautiful music and warm stories will serve as an opportunity to reflect on the preciousness of life and think together about the meaning of sharing.”
Lee Sam-yeol, president of the Korea Organ Donation Agency, stated, “The fact that one brain-dead organ donor can provide new life to up to nine people is thanks to the noble decision of the donor and their family.” He added, “Through this event, we hope that those intentions are widely conveyed and that more people will take an interest in life sharing.” The final event of the Life Sharing Together Concert, which is planned for a total of four times this year, is scheduled to be held at the Gwangsan-gu Office Citizen's Plaza in Gwangju Metropolitan City, Jeonnam, on the 13th at 4:00 PM.
