The final work of Yeongeuk Yeoljeon 10, ‘The Nature of Forgetting’, opens its third season

The work , which will conclude the 20th-anniversary season [Yeongeuk Yeoljeon 10] of Yeongeuk Yeoljeon, opened its third season at Sejong S Theater on the 18th. The work is a physical theater piece that unfolds the life of a man whose memories are blurring due to early-onset dementia and who is even losing those memories, without any dialogue or songs.

Nine actors and three musicians take the stage together. Over live music where piano, violin, percussion, and loop stations intertwine, the actors' movements continue to depict scenes of love and friendship, meetings and partings, and life and death. Because the composition increases the density of gestures and music instead of excluding language, it appears to be a work where the audience's interpretation plays a larger role. Although it deals with the heavy subject of memory loss, the method of expression is closer to revealing the fine textures of emotion.

This work began with an invited performance by the Wooran Cultural Foundation in 2019, followed by its licensed premiere in 2022 and a revival in 2023. This season, returning to Sejong S Theater after three years, is characterized by showing the fragments of scattering memories within a deeper sense of space than before. Audience reactions have also led to evaluations such as, "A performance like a movie even without a single line of dialogue." Yeongeuk Yeoljeon has breathed with 2 million audience members through 110 works, and this work is read as the stage decorating the end of that flow. The performance continues until November 29.
