Singer Roy Kim clarified during a social media live broadcast that Kim Jong-kook, not himself, had promised to perform a congratulatory song at the wedding of Ji Ye-eun and Vata. The dispute follows a video released on the ‘GYM JONG KOOK’ YouTube channel on the 22nd of last month.

Singer Roy Kim has addressed the controversy surrounding the congratulatory song for the wedding of entertainer Ji Ye-eun and dancer Vata. During a recent personal social media live broadcast, Roy Kim stated that he never promised to sing at the wedding and clarified that it was Kim Jong-kook who had made the promise.

The controversy began following a video released on the YouTube channel ‘GYM JONG KOOK’ on the 22nd of last month. In the video, Roy Kim mentioned that he finds it difficult to respond easily to wedding song requests because there are so many, prompting Kim Jong-kook to ask if he had not previously promised Ji Ye-eun he would sing during a filming of the SBS variety show ‘Running Man’.

After receiving a phone call from Kim Jong-kook, Ji Ye-eun revealed that she had heard he would sing the congratulatory song while they were eating gukbap. Kim Jong-kook explained that his company has established a principle of not performing congratulatory songs. Roy Kim added that it is not that he does not want to sing at weddings.

During his social media live, Roy Kim expressed regret that he was being perceived as someone who makes promises and fails to keep them. He urged people to consider that the words used when criticizing others online can ultimately return to the speaker.
