[Korea Social Welfare Journal] Reporter Kang Hyeon-gu=Novelist and screenwriter So Jae-won expressed criticism regarding the recent lecture fee controversy surrounding YouTuber Park Wi through his SNS.

In his post, writer So Jae-won mentioned his experience traveling the country with a lecture fee of 500,000 won, expressing surprise at the fact that Park Wi received a high amount of 5,000,000 won. He warned, "Do not become a merchant targeting the public," stating that he himself received only a minimum lecture fee for the purpose of expressing gratitude to the public who brightened his works.

This controversy began when Park Wi released a video related to a wheelchair incident on his YouTube channel 'Weracle' on the 21st. The video contained a scene where a wheelchair wheel got caught in the foot of a social service agent while disembarking from a KTX. After the controversy arose following the release of the video, Park Wi deleted it and posted an apology, but criticism continued.

In particular, as the controversy regarding his lecture fees grew, the contract status of the Seoul Gangnam Cultural Foundation was revealed. It was reported that Park Wi was scheduled to receive 9,350,000 won for an event he was set to lecture at on the 28th. This lecture was ultimately canceled following the controversy. Additionally, it was revealed that he received 5,000,000 won for a special lecture by a prominent figure in Geumsan-gun in 2023.

Writer So Jae-won is well known to the public as the original author of the films 'Hope' and 'Tunnel', and he has recently been actively expressing his opinions on other social issues.
