Cinecube to Hold Special Screening of Documentary on German Neo-Expressionist Master Georg Baselitz

Art cinema Cinecube will premiere the documentary film 'Georg Baselitz,' which illuminates the life of the German Neo-Expressionist master Georg Baselitz, for the first time in Korea. Running from the 19th to December 27th, this screening is a work produced to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the artist's birth, capturing the life work and philosophy of the master who passed away this past April.

The film traces the journey of a boy who grew up in a rural village in East Germany until he stood at the center of contemporary art. In particular, through interviews with his wife Elke Baselitz and his family, it provides a multi-dimensional look at Baselitz not only as an artist but also as a human being. It is an opportunity to look deeply into his artistic world, through which he established the identity of post-war German art with his unique method of painting subjects upside down.

This screening is expected to provide audiences with an integrated artistic experience encompassing both the exhibition and the film, as it is linked to the artist's retrospective currently being held at the Sehwa Museum of Art.
