According to ChildFund Korea, after being appointed as the chairman of the National Supporters Association in 1985, Choi Bool-am spent 41 years working in child welfare sites both domestically and abroad to support children and youth in difficult circumstances. His connection with ChildFund Korea began in 1981 through a relationship he formed with child actors while filming the MBC drama 'Country Diaries'. Subsequently, he worked to spread a culture of child sponsorship within the entertainment industry by establishing group sponsorships with the teams of 'Country Diaries' and 'Ordinary People'.
ChildFund Korea also reported that in the 1990s, Choi Bool-am visited the Americas and Europe to establish overseas supporter groups, resulting in a system of 25 overseas supporter groups across 8 countries. He also visited remote areas in Africa, including Ethiopia in 2007, Uganda in 2014, and Kenya in 2015. At the 30th anniversary ceremony of the ChildFund Korea National Supporters Association in 2015, he stated, "I can never imagine being happy alone; children must be viewed as another 'me'." He added, "True service is not holding an umbrella for someone in the rain, but getting wet in the rain with them. What people need most is other people."
