UNICEF Korea to broadcast Enoch's visit to children in Burundi
UNICEF Korea announced that musical actor and singer Enoch visited Burundi this past August to witness the reality of children facing conflict and poverty. His journey will be featured in the program ‘A Promise to Protect Children, Blue Dot,’ a joint project between UNICEF Korea and tvN.
UNICEF Korea announced on the 20th that it will broadcast the story of musical actor and singer Enoch's visit to Burundi, Africa. Enoch participated in the program ‘A Promise to Protect Children, Blue Dot,’ jointly planned by UNICEF Korea and tvN, to visit the sites in Burundi.
This past August, Enoch visited refugee camps and nutrition centers in the Gitega region of Burundi alongside UNICEF Korea. The itinerary involved observing the field operations of Blue Dot, a child-friendly space where children facing urgent situations such as war and natural disasters stay. The program was created to raise awareness of the reality of children in crisis and to gather support.
While on the ground, Enoch met 15-year-old Fidel, who is staying at the Busuma refugee camp to escape the civil war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and 14-year-old Lionel, who works at a brick factory to help his family instead of attending school. He also visited a UNICEF nutrition center that treats children suffering from severe malnutrition to observe the recovery process. These moments revealed the reality children endure in environments where conflict and poverty overlap. This field presence serves as a means to convey the issues of children in crisis specifically to domestic viewers beyond simple introduction.
“Seeing children who dream of tomorrow even amidst the pain of poverty and conflict, I felt that I must join them so that those dreams can be protected,” Enoch said. “I believe that what we can do now is to maintain steady interest and continue providing help, even if it is small.” Heo Geum-ju, Secretary General of UNICEF Korea, also stated, “I am grateful to Enoch for traveling such a long distance despite his busy schedule to listen to the stories of the children in Burundi.”
Enoch's visit to Burundi will be broadcast on tvN on Tuesday, November 17, at 7:30 PM.
