[Korea Social Welfare Journal] Reporter Kang Hyeon-gu=Fireworks Fighters took a step ahead in their match against the powerhouse of college baseball, Dongguk University. Rhee Dae-eun demonstrated excellent mental strength and skill, shutting down the opposing lineup for four innings without allowing any runs.
On the 31st of last month, in a baseball variety program released on a YouTube channel, Fireworks Fighters faced off against the prestigious Dongguk University, which has achieved 21 wins in national competitions. Amid tight tension, they eventually took a 1:0 lead.
Rhee Dae-eun, who stepped up as the starting pitcher for the Fighters, showed a clean start in the top of the 1st inning by handling opposing batters with a shortstop ground ball, a strikeout, and a right fielder fly ball. In response, Dongguk University deployed their ace Lee Ye-hak. Jung Keun-woo of the Fighters reached base via a walk, but the momentum momentarily stalled due to a double play by Jeong Seong-hoon. However, Park Yong-taik's hit followed, reigniting the sparks of a counterattack. The 1st inning ended with an Lee Dae-ho fly ball.
In the following top of the 2nd inning, Rhee Dae-eun kept the opponents in check with a three-up, three-down inning. However, in the top of the 3rd inning, Dongguk University employed a bunt hit and a run-and-hit tactic, putting the Fighters in danger of conceding a run. Due to overlapping errors by Jung Keun-woo and Rhee Dae-eun, they were pushed to having two outs with runners on 1st and 3rd, but Kim Jae-ho's excellent defense overcame this crisis.
An opportunity arrived after the crisis. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Choi Jihun and Kim Jae-ho reached base with consecutive walks, creating a chance. Jung Keun-woo's hit-like ball was unfortunately blocked by the defense, but Choi Jihun crossed home plate on a sacrifice fly by Jeong Seong-hoon. The sight of the Fighters scoring a precious opening run made fans smile.
In the top of the 4th inning, Rhee Dae-eun faced another turning point. After giving up a hit to the lead batter, a crisis arrived as he allowed an additional hit after a 10-pitch battle. However, he did not let his guard down, inducing a ground ball to the shortstop to create a double play and overcoming the crisis. Rhee Dae-eun finished the inning by striking out the next batter.
This broadcast surpassed 100,000 concurrent viewers just 27 minutes after its release. The next matchup between Fireworks Fighters and Dongguk University is scheduled to be released on the 7th.
