EBS program to tackle three-year conflict between two fighting dogs
The EBS1 program 'There Is No Such Thing as a Bad Dog' will air an episode featuring a family struggling with a three-year conflict between their two dogs, Sugar and Cookie, as they prepare for a new baby.
A couple has sought help from 'There Is No Such Thing as a Bad Dog' to resolve a three-year conflict between Sugar, a dachshund mix, and Cookie, a Border Collie, as they fear the fighting could threaten a soon-to-be-born baby.
An emergency SOS has arrived at 'There Is No Such Thing as a Bad Dog.' A couple has requested help because their two dogs engage in constant fighting, particularly when they are near the pregnant mother. The family is deeply concerned that the dogs might show aggression toward the baby, who is due to be born soon. Despite the ongoing "war" that has lasted for three years, the dogs—a 6-year-old dachshund mix named Sugar and a 5-year-old Border Collie named Cookie—have cute appearances. The conflict stems from Cookie's overflowing energy clashing with Sugar's unyielding spirit.
Sugar spends 12 hours a day accompanying her father to work in a freight truck. Because Sugar fights with Cookie whenever they make eye contact, the father takes her along as a temporary solution. While Sugar enjoys the drives across the country without motion sickness, she faces significant hardship; once she leaves the house in the truck, she refuses to eat and holds her bowel movements for the entire 12-hour work shift. Furthermore, the father's work environment is filled with loud noises that stimulate the dogs' hearing. Seeing Sugar staring at him with a blank expression, the father expressed feelings of guilt, wondering if he should have brought her along.
The fighting between Sugar and Cookie occurs most frequently when they are with their mother. Cookie relentlessly pursues Sugar, attempting to push her under the dining table or into the corner of the shoe rack. During these encounters, Cookie suddenly flips Sugar over and bites her, while Sugar fights back without backing down. This tension causes great distress for the pregnant mother. Amidst the intense psychological warfare, an unexpected behavior was observed: Cookie began chewing on Sugar's face as if it were gum. This behavior fluctuates between rough biting and licking, leaving even the expert, Seol-ssam, confused as to whether Cookie is acting aggressively or expressing affection.
Upon entering the home, Seol-ssam immediately begins providing solutions. The training focuses on strengthening the mother's leadership, emphasizing that the leader must distribute resources that the dogs previously divided among themselves. Additionally, Seol-ssam will provide special training to address the frequent disputes occurring in front of the entrance and share tips for expectant parents living with dogs. The episode will explore whether Sugar and Cookie can find peace through this intensive training.
The EBS1 episode 'There Is No Such Thing as a Bad Dog: Pregnant Mother's SOS! Sisters in Crisis' is scheduled to air on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 10:00 PM on EBS1. It will also be available for replay on the EBS website.
