The lives of fraternal twins living near Florence, Italy, and the story of their grandparents traveling from South Korea to visit them will be broadcast on the EBS1 program "My Grandchildren Are Here!" The episode, titled "Sweet and Salty Italy! Unstoppable Twins," is scheduled to air on October 29 at 9:55 PM. The episode features Margherita, who loves decorating and animals, her twin brother Teodoro, and their parents, Kim Jin-min and Lorenzo.
While Margherita shows affection to everyone, she is not lenient with her brother, and the two children often bicker whenever they make eye contact. The broadcast will introduce a day in the lives of the twins, starting from the morning of the first day of the new school semester, followed by a family meal after the grandparents arrive in Florence, and a dinner menu utilizing perilla leaves grown in the backyard garden.
Chaos over lunch boxes and meals on the first morning of the new semester
The twin family lives in Campi Bisenzio, located a 20-minute drive from Florence. The neighborhood is close to the romantic city of Florence while being surrounded by nature. The family lives in a three-story house with a backyard used as a vegetable garden. According to the program introduction released by EBS, a busy morning unfolds as the children prepare for their first day of the new school semester. Mother Kim Jin-min forgets the children's lunch boxes, and the two children show different reactions during the preparation process.
Teodoro wants rice balls coated in seaweed flakes, but upon hearing that the house has run out of rice, his mood drops and he refuses to eat. In contrast, Margherita prepares her breakfast table and even brushes her teeth by herself. Margherita is delighted when Kim Jin-min uses her wits to prepare sausage and rice cake skewers (sotteok-sotteok) for the lunch boxes. The broadcast captures the different behaviors of the twins regarding their meals and lunch boxes on the same morning. While the mother hurries to get both children ready for school, she must attend to the siblings who desire different foods.
EBS introduced Margherita as a child who is serious about decorating and loves all animals. While she shows affection to everyone, she is particularly not lenient with her brother Teodoro, and the siblings often fight when they lock eyes. Kim Jin-min is introduced as being exhausted by the repeated clashes between the siblings. The lunch box preparation on the first morning of the new semester leads to scenes showing the different temperaments of the two children. The program will also cover whether the mother can get both children to school on time.
Grandparents arrive in Florence after 18 hours of travel
The grandparents, who departed from South Korea to meet the twins, arrive in Florence, Italy, after a total of 18 hours of travel. The journey was not smooth from the start. During a 14-hour flight, the two had to sit apart, and upon arriving at the transfer airport, they found no one around. After experiencing various difficulties, the two arrive in Florence after midnight. After arriving, they go to sleep and begin a day with the family in Florence the following day.
The grandparents' visit follows the daily life of Kim Jin-min as she cares for the twins. The program introduction explains that the mother, exhausted by the siblings' fighting, calls in the grandmother and grandfather from South Korea. As the grandparents join the lives of the two children, the first meal shared by the family is met with the twins' commotion. This is a scene where conflict arises again between the siblings as the children begin making traditional Italian home-style lasagna. The quarrel stems from a single sauce spoon.
EBS introduced that the grandparents face the siblings' fighting during their first meal with the twins the day after arriving in Florence. The broadcast will reveal how the grandparents respond to the confrontation between the twins over the sauce spoon while making lasagna. On the first day the grandparents spend with the family after traveling for a long time from South Korea, the meal preparation and the conflict between the twins are captured in one scene. The program will observe whether the grandparents' mediation brings changes to the siblings' lives.
Espresso delivered to the bed and the couple's first meeting
The twins' morning begins with father Lorenzo preparing espresso. Lorenzo is introduced as a husband who makes coffee every morning and brings it to the master bedroom where his wife is, as well as the father of the two children. Currently working as an environmental assessment analyst, Kim Jin-min works in Florence as a freelance tour guide. The broadcast covers not only their daily lives as parents but also how the two first met. They met while doing a homestay in Ireland, rather than in South Korea or Italy.
Lorenzo was the first person to open the door when Kim Jin-min arrived at the homestay house for language training. EBS reported that 19 years after their first meeting, Kim Jin-min will reveal her thoughts on her husband's first impression. However, the program introduction does not specify what that first impression was. While introducing the meeting and the story of the couple, the broadcast also shows the parents caring for the twins amidst their busy daily lives.
| Person | Age |
|---|---|
| Margherita | 7 |

Dinner made with perilla leaves grown in the garden
There is a vegetable garden in the backyard of the family's three-story house. A special vegetable grown there is perilla leaves. EBS introduced that the twin family grows perilla leaves themselves, a vegetable not typically used as an ingredient in Europe. The perilla leaf seedlings were obtained from an acquaintance. Because Lorenzo, Teodoro, and Margherita all like perilla leaves, the whole family grows and eats them from the garden. The family lives a self-sufficient life, bringing the harvested perilla leaves to the table.
The dinner menu for this day is perilla leaf pancakes (perilla jeon) made by Teodoro and his mother, Kim Jin-min. Although they pick perilla leaves from the garden to use in the cooking, a situation arises where the food might run out because Teodoro keeps eating the pancakes before Margherita can even eat them properly. EBS stated that the broadcast will capture Teodoro's "mukbang" of the perilla leaf pancakes and the family watching him. The siblings, who showed different reactions to the rice balls and lunch boxes on the morning of the new semester, appear together at the dinner table over the perilla leaf pancakes.
