“Everyone lives an ordinary life, but no one's life is ordinary.”

The life confessions of 30 ordinary people who have endured, held on, and risen again to maintain their place in the world.

The EBS interview documentary 'Ordinary Records: Reflections' will have its first broadcast on Monday, November 9, at 5:50 p.m.

As a new human documentary presented by EBS this November, 'Ordinary Records: Reflections' will feature the special life stories of 30 ordinary people around us. The program promises sincere confessions of those who have endured the curves of time. In 'Ordinary Records: Reflections', the act of living an ordinary life is presented as a great feat, offering a time of empathy and reflection through the philosophies drawn from the lives of ordinary people.

The series will record the lives of 30 ordinary people, including a doctor who chose a rural health center over a high salary, a person who became a mother to a child with a disability, a prison guard who has waited 36 years within walls for the change in inmates, and a counseling volunteer who has answered the calls of those whose hearts collapsed in the middle of the night for 44 years.

Premiering on Monday, November 9, at 5:50 p.m., the EBS interview documentary 'Ordinary Records: Reflections' is an interview-based program that conveys the life stories of individuals who have lived lives that appear ordinary but are by no means so, told through their own voices. Some left comfortable lives to find their own values, some overcame walls of limitations and prejudice, and some protected one another in the name of family.

The program conveys the preciousness of life and the realizations gained from it through the voices of those who have held their ground. Rather than focusing on flashy achievements or dramatic results, it listens to the moments of collapse and the process of rising again, providing a time for viewers to look back on their own lives and reflect on their meaning.

There is no narration to summarize the lives. The program conveys the participants' voices, their pace of speech, and even the silences when they cannot continue speaking, exactly as they are. Photos and records containing turning points in life, along with daily routines that reflect their attitudes toward life, support these stories.

The protagonist of the first episode is Im Gyeong-su, the "Romantic Doctor of Jeongeup," who passed up a high-paying hospital director position after working in the emergency room at Asan Medical Center to become a rural health center director. This will be followed by Yang Jeong-suk, the "Mother of Se-jin, the Robot-Legged Girl," who tells the story of how she became a family beyond conditions by adopting a child with a disability and raising them to be a national swimming representative.

The series will also continue with the stories of Mun Jeong-seok, the "Republic of Korea's No. 1 Female Diver" who has lived as a haenyeo in the Jeju haenyeo community for about 60 years, and Jang Seon-suk, a prison guard who calls the time she spent never giving up on people her own "unrequited love." What were these individuals holding onto to cross such long periods of time?

Adding to the deep resonance, funeral director Yoo Jae-cheol will share a message that "knowing how to die well is knowing how to live well" through the process of preparing for and sending off death, and counseling volunteer Ryu Sun-deok will join, having listened to voices of despair over the phone for approximately 10,000 hours, staying "half a step behind" others.

A tribute to those who have protected an ordinary today, the EBS interview documentary 'Ordinary Records: Reflections' will air every Monday through Friday at 5:50 p.m. on EBS 1TV, starting Monday, November 9.
