Actress Selma Blair issued a video apology on September 30 following her September 11 arrest at John F. Kennedy International Airport, where she allegedly punched and bit a flight attendant during a Delta Air Lines flight from LA to New York.
American actress Selma Blair (54) issued an apology via a video message on her Instagram on September 30 (local time) regarding her arrest for allegedly assaulting flight attendants on a Delta Air Lines passenger plane. “As legal proceedings are currently underway, I have been instructed by my lawyers to remain silent,” Blair said, adding, “I am taking this matter very seriously.” She continued, “I have never had the intention to hurt or frighten anyone in my life. I am truly sorry to everyone who felt disappointed, hurt, or frightened.”
Regarding her son, Arthur, Blair added, “He is my whole world and is doing very well right now. Moving forward, I will focus on taking care of my health and Arthur.” Arthur is her son with her former boyfriend Jason Bleick, whom she dated from 2010 to 2012.
The incident occurred on September 11 on a Delta Air Lines flight traveling from LA to New York. Following reports from the crew, the Port Authority Police Department of New York and New Jersey arrested Blair at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York immediately after the plane landed. According to police, two flight attendants reported injuries, one of whom was transported to a hospital. Reuters and other outlets reported that Blair punched and bit a flight attendant and attempted to open the aircraft door.
Blair's attorney explained that the assault was not intentional, stating that she boarded the plane after a long filming schedule, fell in the cabin hitting her head, and had missed taking her medication. Blair appeared in court in New York on October 12.
In 2016, Blair previously apologized for causing a disturbance on a flight, stating she had lost consciousness after consuming alcohol and drugs together. She has also been public about her battle with multiple sclerosis, a chronic neurological disease involving recurring inflammation of the central nervous system.
