Conductor THEO's Starring Film 'DAU' Wins Silver Lion for Best Director at Venice Film Festival

The film 'DAU', in which Greek conductor THEO participated as a lead, has won the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice International Film Festival. Directed by Ilya Khrzhanovsky, this work is a 195-minute film dealing with the life of Soviet physicist Lev Landau, who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1962.

The production team carried out this massive project over approximately 20 years starting from 2006. THEO was offered the role of the protagonist Landau at the age of 33 through an In-Yun with the director in 2005, and he participated in the filming by living for several years on an actual set prepared in Kharkiv, Ukraine. This film, completed by reconstructing parts of a total 700 hours of footage, sheds light on the life of a genius, power, and individual freedom.

Meanwhile, THEO is scheduled to hold his first performance in Korea with the Utopia Orchestra at the LOTTE Concert Hall in Seoul from November 17 to 18. In this performance, he is expected to present Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring' and Mahler's Symphony No. 1, among others.
