62-year-old Venerable Deoksan perfectly performs ATEEZ's 'BAD'... Dance challenge in monastic robes

Venerable Deoksan, who is called the GD of the Buddhist community, is drawing attention by presenting a dance video using the song 'BAD' by the group ATEEZ. On August 20, Venerable Deoksan posted a stage video on his social media with the message, "If there is CHOI SAN in the music industry, there is Deoksan in the Buddhist community."

The released video was filmed at the site of the 2026 Suguksa Mountain Temple Culture Festival. Appearing on stage in white monastic robes, Venerable Deoksan performed the choreography for ATEEZ's 'BAD' with discipline alongside dancers. In particular, he reinterpreted the section that had garnered attention through ATEEZ member CHOI SAN's intense facial expressions in his own style, drawing enthusiastic responses from the audience on-site.

Venerable Deoksan shared his thoughts, saying, "This time, I showed a different side through ATEEZ's 'BAD'," and "From Deoksan GD to Deoksan Daegong, a new challenge on stage again today." The video has received an explosive response online, recording more than 260,000 'likes' less than a day after being released.

Born in 1964, Venerable Deoksan has a unique background as a graduate of the Korean National Police University who served as a police officer for 16 years. Currently serving as the abbot of Jajaeam Temple at Soyosan, he continues missionary activities that combine dance and Buddhist sermons to communicate with the younger generation. In the past, he earned the nickname 'Michael Jackson-nim' by performing stages for Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean' and G-DRAGON and TAEYANG's 'GOOD BOY'. It is known that he devotes several hours every day to practice for nearly two months to complete a single song performance.
