Thirty-four seniors complete Job Academy training at Mapo Senior Welfare Center
The Mapo Senior Welfare Center has concluded the 4th class of its Job Academy, a program designed to enhance re-employment capabilities for vulnerable job seekers aged 55 and older.
The Mapo Senior Welfare Center announced on the 21st that 34 participants have completed the 4th class of its Job Academy, with 19 people trained in security and 15 in childcare to support re-employment for job seekers aged 55 and older.
The Mapo Senior Welfare Center announced on the 21st that it has completed the 4th class of the Job Academy, conducted as part of the "Creating Decent Jobs Project" in partnership with the Local Finance Association. The project was established to improve the re-employment capabilities of vulnerable job seekers aged 55 and older and to assist their entry into stable jobs.
The training was operated in two fields: security and childcare. A total of 34 participants completed the program, including 19 participants in the security training course and 15 participants in the childcare training course. In addition to job training, the center provides employment information and customized consulting, and plans to continue follow-up management after completion, such as telephone monitoring and connections to senior internships. Self-help groups and additional competency reinforcement training will also be operated for those who remain unemployed.
The fact that the program includes follow-up management and internship connections, rather than just producing graduates, is interpreted as a structure intended to extend job search support beyond the training period. However, the actual number of people employed was not provided in this announcement.
One participant attending the completion ceremony said, "While receiving the training, my desire to work again has grown. I will challenge myself to find employment based on what I have learned." Director Jeong Yeong-suk stated, "We will help the seniors demonstrate their capabilities in new roles and support them in continuing their economic independence and social participation."
