Daegu Buk-gu Senior Club Hosts Movie Screening Event for 1,000 Elderly Job Participants

On the 9th, the Daegu Buk-gu Senior Club held a cultural event for approximately 1,000 participants of the elderly competency utilization project at CGV Daegu. This event was organized to provide opportunities for rest and recharging for the seniors active in the field, and to strengthen the sense of bonding among participants.

On the day of the event, five theaters at CGV Daegu were rented for the movie screening, and prior to the screening, Lee Geun-su, the Mayor of Buk-gu, Daegu, attended to spend time communicating with the seniors. At this venue, the seniors created a lively atmosphere by performing a welcome performance using mobile phone flashes.

Mayor Lee Geun-su stated, “The lives of the elderly are like libraries filled with wisdom,” and added, “We will continue to focus our capabilities on job support so that seniors can actively participate in society.” Lee Sook-hee, the director of the Daegu Buk-gu Senior Club, also said, “We will continuously expand programs that allow them to enjoy both the joy of working and cultural satisfaction at the same time.”

The attempt to expand opportunities for cultural enjoyment beyond merely providing jobs is evaluated as a positive change seeking to improve the qualitative aspects of elderly welfare in an aging society. In the future, such emotional support programs are expected to play a practical role in alleviating the social isolation of the elderly.
