Jeonnam Volunteer Center and Korea Polytechnic University Join Hands to Strengthen Technical Capabilities of Youth Volunteer Group

The Jeonnam Volunteer Center of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City is taking steps to strengthen the professionalism of the ‘Jeonnam-Gwangju Youth Volunteer Group’ by joining hands with the Korea Polytechnic University Jeonnam Campus. The two organizations recently signed a business agreement and decided to establish a support system so that young people can acquire skills required in industrial fields and return them to the local community through talent donation.

Under this agreement, the Korea Polytechnic University Jeonnam Campus will deploy its faculty, educational facilities, and practical training equipment for the education of the youth volunteer group. The plan is to go beyond simply learning skills and to raise the practical capabilities of the youth by providing field-oriented education utilizing the university's educational network. This is interpreted as an attempt to create social value by combining local professional educational infrastructure with public interest activities.

Kim Sang-gil, head of the Jeonnam Volunteer Center, stated, “Cooperation with educational institutions is essential for the youth volunteer group to acquire professionalism,” and added, “We will utilize the infrastructure of Korea Polytechnic University to provide various skill acquisition opportunities to young people and connect them to professional volunteer activities.” Tak Kyung-ju, dean of the Korea Polytechnic University Jeonnam Campus, also expressed, “We hope that by utilizing the university's educational capabilities, it will serve as an opportunity for young people to share their skills with the local community.”

The Jeonnam Volunteer Center plans to continue expanding its links with professional educational institutions in the future to foster professional volunteer groups that connect skill acquisition with local community participation.
