National Symphony Orchestra to Release Live Performance on Deutsche Grammophon ‘Stage+’ for the First Time by a Korean Orchestra

The National Symphony Orchestra will hold its 267th regular concert, ‘Schumann, Symphony No. 2’, at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall on September 13. Led by Music Director Roberto Abbado, this stage is part of a series highlighting the musical flow of Schumann and Mendelssohn, and is centered around works by Brahms, who shares a musical lineage with Schumann's inner world.

Pianist Marc-André Amelain, evaluated as a 21st-century virtuoso, will appear as a soloist for this performance. He will collaborate with the National Symphony Orchestra for the first time through Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2. The following Schumann Symphony No. 2 captures the composer's overcoming of hardship and his will toward the light, and Music Director Abbado plans to focus on organically connecting the tension and joy throughout the work. This is the first time a domestic orchestra will release a live performance through the world-renowned classical platform Deutsche Grammophon ‘Stage+’, which is expected to serve as an important turning point in expanding the global touchpoints of Korean classical music.
