Ungsang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and Baekdong Elementary School Operate Safe School Healthy Playground for Children

Ungsang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and Baekdong Elementary School held the ‘Safe School Healthy Playground’ on September 15 for approximately 90 students in the 3rd and 4th grades of Baekdong Elementary School. This event was planned with the purpose of promoting children's physical health as well as preventing school violence and child abuse.

At the scene, in cooperation with the Yangsan Child Protection Agency, a school violence prevention campaign and an awareness improvement survey were conducted. Students participated in cooperative physical play, building intimacy with their peers and having time to naturally learn the values of cooperation and respect through play. Moving beyond simple physical activities to emphasize emotional exchange is evaluated as a positive attempt in terms of community child welfare.

A representative from the welfare center stated, “For children, play is an important process of learning how to form relationships with friends, understand each other, and show consideration,” and added, “Through this activity, we hope students will practice the values of cooperation and respect within their school life.” The welfare center plans to continue projects to strengthen the child safety net in cooperation with relevant local organizations in the future.
